Introduction
Curriculum
Representatives from all five BRSU schools work together to study and develop curricula which are published and distributed through the BRSU office. Curriculum documents are available for teacher use in hard copy and electronic formats. These documents allow for all BRSU students have similar curriculum opportunities presented uniquely by teachers at each individual school. Our curriculum documents take into consideration content that is "fair game" for Vermont statewide assessments but are not restricted to these expectations.
Assessment
BRSU school administrators and Jean Ward identify common assessment needs unique to each curriculum content area. Jean then works with teachers to develop local assessments or to attain professional development for use of published assessments. Our BRSU Local Assessment Plan includes elements of both summative and formative assessment.
In addition, each school has unique classroom assessments developed by teachers that meet the individual needs of its classrooms.
Professional Development
Professional development for BRSU teachers is multi-faceted. These opportunities are both school-based and BRSU sponsored. They take place during the school year (both embedded in the school day and out of school opportunities) as well as during the summer when schools are not in session.
We hope that the Curriculum andAssessment section of our website will help to inform you of our work in these three areas.
